Cooper Standard Wins Techpoint MIRA Finalist Award in Advanced Manufacturing for Vehicular Active Noise Reduction System

Novi Michigan, May 20, 2005 - Cooper Standard Automotive's Global NVH Control Systems Division received a Techpoint MIRA finalist award in advanced manufacturing for its active noise reduction system for vehicular applications. The award was presented during a gala event held at the Indiana Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis on Friday, May 13, 2005.

To qualify for a MIRA award, which is presented by Techpoint, a company must derive the majority of its revenue from the sale of products or services through the advanced manufacturing industry. A winner must also demonstrate product and company financial strength and overall success. Key considerations are positive financial performance and sustainability; impact on the industry and market; and accomplishments as an outstanding corporate citizen.

"We’re honored to receive the MIRA Award finalist trophy," said Paul Gilbert, president, Global NVH Control Systems. "This is confirmation that we are bringing cutting-edge technology that adds value to the transportation industry. We’re pleased to be recognized for these outstanding efforts."

Cooper Standard's active noise reduction system, called ENVIsys™, is well suited for a wide range of applications. ENVIsys™ integrates advances in control theory, electronics, digital signal processing, acoustics and vibration to produce cost- and weight- effective solutions to noise and vibration problems of multiple applications.

In addition to the comfort benefits, ENVIsys™ technology provides a "bolt in" solution to health and safety concerns that have resulted in existing and pending federal regulations limiting noise in vehicle environments. Through the effective use of active control technology, the effects of noise- and vibration-induced fatigue and noise-induced hearing loss could be greatly minimized in applications where this is both a cause for concern and a potential for litigation.
